Study of the Polishing Characteristics by Abrasive Flow Machining with a Rotating Device

Since only uni-direction motion is produced by traditional abrasive flow machining (AFM), so the polishing effects of inner hole not easy to achieve uniform roughness whole surface after polishing. Therefore, in this study, a rotating device with DC servo motor was set up AFM increase tangential forces on surface, and therefore, improve efficiency. The designed group transmission gear create rotational finishing path for medium. an can different working inducing more complex than that AFM. In addition speed, also change rotation directions one process, causing medium many irregular paths experimental results showed workpiece significantly decreased speed. Additionally, (SR) from 0.61 ?m Ra 0.082 20 cycles, improvement rate reached 87% at 15 rpm applying 1.5:1 silicone gel/abrasive concentration ratio #60 mesh experiments. This study created excellent efficiency using produce good quality.
